"Psychologists' Union of Armenia" Professional Non-Governmental Organization (“PUA” NGO)
Organization founded on March 27, 2023.
Co-founder and President of the organization: Doctor of Psychology, Professor H. Avanesyan.
The subject of the organization’s activity is: the professional mission of evaluating, coordinating, regulating psychological activity and education in the Republic of Armenia, and ensuring global representation.
The objectives are:
- To unite all organizations (NGOs, educational institutions, other structures) and individuals operating in all regions of the Republic of Armenia that carry out scientific, educational and applied activities in the fields of psychology (or have connection with psychological fields) – forming a professional community and an environment of mutual support.
- The organization cooperates with the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia, the State Revenue Committee under the Government of the Republic of Armenia, state and non-state bodies and organizations.
- To ensure the conditions and effectiveness of organizing and implementing psychological activities in Armenia and on international platforms, legislative and professional normative regulations of cooperation with state, non-state and international structures.
Vision
Psychologists’ Union of Armenia (PUA) is a professional public organization that represents psychology in Armenia. The PUA was established in 2022, with members including scientists, researchers, practicing professionals and students. They are dedicated to the establishment and development of psychological science, constantly supporting the improvement of mental health and well-being of the population of Armenia and Artsakh.
The most important tasks of the PUA are: to support the status of the psychology profession, to promote the improvement of the quality of education for psychologists, to increase the number of scientific achievements, to protect the interests of the profession, to support the improvement of research, clinical and applied methods in psychology, to evaluate the value of professional psychological services and its recognition by the country’s public and official structures, as well as on relevant international platforms, to promote cooperation within the professional community.
The PUA strives for such a system of health preservation and improvement services that will be accessible to all people living in Armenia.
